My Name is Michelle

"This is what this world needs - help. And that's what we are here for."

Michelle is currently homeless, unable to afford the rent for an apartment in Paterson where the percentage of residents with income below the poverty level is 25% compared to 10% statewide. This is creating a situation where more people are prone to being homeless.

"Not just homeless – hungry."

As a result, Michelle is a client at the Father English Food Pantry in Paterson. She knows how uncomfortable it sometimes can be to ask for help, but knows that she is treated with compassion and dignity at the Father English Food Pantry. And not only is Michelle helped at the food pantry, she has become an employee there. This gives her great empathy for the people she serves since she knows firsthand what they are going through.

"We all become one big family."

With your support of the Diocesan Ministries Appeal, you help Michelle and many others who come to our food pantry. You help lighten the burden of your brothers and sisters in need. You make a genuine difference.
